| No Villa fan deep down wants Barry to go, but as soon as he got the England call up last year he has been around other players who have talked up the Champions league and began to plant the seeds, ie gerrard. I just cannot understand why he just does not roll up his sleeves and help get Villa to where he wants to go. Instead in this day and age players are just mercanaries to the game and are quick move on to hopefully better themselves. Personally I think this would be a bad move for Barry, as instead of staying at a settled club going places(hopefully) under MON & RL, he see's that Anfeild and the chance to play in Champions league a better proposition, with a manager who may not be there for that long, and a board of directors who are a laughing stock beggars belief. Where he is possibly the first name on the team sheet at Villa as captain, he will have to warm the bench every few weeks to allow benitez's other bench warmers a run out. Lets face it Liverpool can not really afford him, so lets not be to hasty in letting him go just because he wants it settled sooner rather than later. Especially for a small fee plus the likes of Crouch, Finnan or Pennant as talked about in part ex. We need to look to the future and develope the team and these players are no better than what we have in the current youth team, these players will only make up the numbers, not improve the quality of the our squad long term. If MON cannot convince him to stop, then the boys mind was made up along time ago. PS Gareth if you do go, do not expect the same send off that we gave OLOF, OR A WARM WELCOME BACK!!! |
