He is up for grabs and will be pumped up in the build up for the world cup in his home land.

I reckon he will go for as little as £6m

Now this a player I would love at blues.

A class player a couple of seasons ago who has lost his way now SA is at Blackburn and Santa Cruz has left...

Would be a good signing but would probably not be worth it till the summer due to the ANC??

wouldn't be a bad signing but i wouldn't pay £6 million for him his goal record hasn't been impressive enough over the last couple of years to shell out that amount

The guy had one decent season three years ago, since then he has been extremely average. He can't get in a very average team at Blackburn and the Blackburn fans are not exactly screaming for his inclusion. He also turns 32 next week.

£6million?! Your joking aren't you?! They'd bite our or anyones hand off who were daft enough to pay that! He's probably available for about £2 million if anyone would want him.

ANC wouldn't be a problem either, he doesn't get picked for SA and they haven't qualified anyway.

I came up with this yesterday and wouldnt mind if it just for 12months.

I think he's lost his way a bit of late and needs a new lease of life a bit like fergie.

I doubt Big Sam would let us have him cheap though so given his age it may be a no no.

I really like the look of this Jenko and apparently he want to join which would mean we have another committed player instead of a bloke whos been there already.

Unless we sign two strikers of course!!

I am living in Blackburn currently and the general concensus is that he is very talented but a lazy b'stard. As stated Sam wouldn't let him go cheaply although the local rag up here confirm that he will probably be sold in Jan.
I wouldn't pay more than 2 mill for him as he will be good for the first 12 months and comatose afterwards.
He is definately a talent though !

Why buy an ageing player that can't cut it at Blackburn? Eck's got a tough task but I think he will be beter served buying 22-26 year olds from abroad or the CCC, rather than trying to ressurect Premiership flops.
Benni over 2 years would probably cost £4M including wages - and it would be unrecoverable given his age. I suspect Benni would be another Marcus Bent type of player. The Chucho route is the one I hope that we follow, hungry, unproven with huge potential. Chucho could be a £15M player in 2 years time, Benni will be worth zero in 18 months. If we do go big I hope it is by buying France, Spain, Argentina's or Italy's hottest prospect rather than Blabkburn or Tottenham's 'couldn't quite cut players'.

i think youre right jonboy.hes not exactly dugarry material is he?id go for janko in the t/window.if we dont i think someone else may well beat us to it.there no rule says we can buy 2 forwards is there.defensively were looking strong.certainly with vignal coming back.why not 2 forwards(one proven and one a gamble.eg janko)a schemer for midfield and a winger?we should be able to drop some wages in january by shifting deadwood lets hope that will be factored into transfer cash available and give us a bit more.

tirednweary, you've put it in a nutshell. Last time I saw him play, he was lethargic to say the least. My bet is that Blackburn fans would be happy to swap him for cash. We need dynamism, IMO McCarthy's best days are behind him.

You've also got to remember that bluenoses hate lazy players, so the fans would soon be on his back.

jonboy is right. thankfully Eck doesnt think like he's got Championship Manager in front of him. We need younger players for now and the future not more 30s somethings who have seen their best days. everyone is getting excited about Shevchenko but someone might ask Eck if he is keen and I bet he isn't. this is the problem with the new owners they go all starry eyed over Shevchenko, McManaman etc. just let the manager get on with his job of bringing in proper players

Just a thought they could be setting Eck up for a "Curbs Job" with the Russian.
Then everyone would "Keep Face" for a couple of years.
Then the court case pay off and they will have what they want. Shocked

Pavlyuchenko would be a better option for the long term. I rate him quite highly so I hope the rumours are accurate. Janko looks good as well but I'm not going to judge a player from youtube videos. We seem to have done our homework on him though so he must have something about him.

Intersting names in here. I do think we need someone inspirational to ensure safety. I would go knocking on Spurs door and try and sign Robbie Keane.

There seems to be a bit of a falling out with Keane and Rednapp.
