Carlton in Erdington, then big time at Peppers (Queens Head) still in Erdington, Mad Moses DJ, best soul and Reggae around.
Then on Saturdays had to be the Rainbow above the Co-Op in Brum.
On tour to Newquay at the Egg Bar, Northern soul at it's best. |

I always went to the Locarno in the early 70's. I was only 16, but my Uncle Sean worked on the door as a bouncer, and always let us in. Great memories!
My Uncle Sean passed away just a couple of weeks ago. |

How about the Rainbow suite above the co-op. You had to go up in a lift that was near Millets.
Anyone reading this go there in 1970? I think the DJ in the bar was called "Spicer"?. I can remember drinking whisky and coke I would have 6 whiskies in a tall glass a bottle of coke and have loads of change from a pound.Strangely going home afterwards was always a bit of a blur. |

| Remember the Rainbow well, always the best music. Remember seeing Max Romeo there (big coup at the time)took the girl of my dreams (Petra)to impress her. After dodging the various skirmishes that usually took place around the dancefloor had the best time. And yes, she was impressed, many Brownie points earned that night. |

Anyone out there remember the Piccadilli club? Located downstairs in the Piccadilli Arcade.
Thinking back it must have broken every H&S rule ever made. Overpacked, no air con, can't remember a fire exit! But a great atmosphere and music. |
