..They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old . Age shall not weary them ,nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning ,We will remember them

My thoughts and deepest gratitude are with our brave servicemen and servicewomen. Past Present and Future.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

You just cant help yourself, can you?
You are simply unable to pay due respect without framing it with your own feeble political agenda.

You should learn a lesson from Rastanipples in the lounge: he can make his tribute simple and repectful without bringing any of his own issues into the act.

This Royal Navy veteran of World War II sends his best regards from Florida to all the other Brummies who served in that war and who, by the grace of God, are still alive and, for the most part I trust, kicking. Tom Brokaw wrote three books about what he called "The Greatest Generation", and we should be proud of that designation, for we were all part of a great undertaking - to save the world from evil.

In our town in North-Central Florida we will have a whole week of celebrating veterans, culminating with the schoolchildren of the county honoring us at our veterans park on November 11. I expect to shed a tear or two some time during the week!! There are not too many of us old chaps left, but we still like to be remembered for what we did.

You and others like you SHOULD BE REMEMBERED AND WILL BE REMEMBERED many thanks and respects to you and those people who have fought against those that would take the lives and freedom of the decent people . Respekt

Nice one V8R & Ken1,
I was there this morning in Centenary Square with my family to pay our respect.

This evening it's just been topped of with the Post using a picture of my much loved Grandad from today.

Much respect to Britain's "golden generation".

BSA.

Thank you for the kind words. BSA, your nom de plume reminds me of the days when Birmingham Small Arms made those great motor-bikes. Is Triumph still in business?

Last night, in our veterans park, all the World War II veterans were honored - even though I was the odd man out, having served in a different Navy than the others, I was "chuffed" to be included. I'm the only Royal Navy veteran in town, and as such have always been treated with great respect.
