Reesa - don't get ahead of yourself mate - come on! that's some friendly advice ok!

The Premiership with investment is not as simple as it looks!

There's some decent teams like Everton/Bolton/Blackburn that have had little investment over the last decade but yet have reached the highs and lows of European footy and relegation fights.

On the other hand there's teams who've had massive investment like Newcastle and Spurs and have hardly got anywhere - in fact one relegated. This time last year Spurs were bottom of the table. It's not as simple as it looks Reesa.

IF I were you, Id be satisfied with a top 14 finish next season and survival this season. IF you look any further than that then your expectations are too high and you are likely to be dissapointed!

im not getting ahead of myself,im just looking at the best case scenario as opposed to the worst case, in all honesty survival for the next 2 years is the be all and end all, after all im a bluenose so am entitled to hope for the best for a change, why cant we look at the Evertons and fulhams for now and take it from there,European football in the next 5 yers imo would be an achievement of massive proportion

In all fairness its a lot about getting lucky with the right players...

Fulham were a joke Hodgson spent in the January after he arrived but no major money spent. They survived that season by the skin of their teeth.

A few more additions still not spending massive amounts and they end up in Europe the following season.

Which goes to show how quick you can turn a team around and qualify for the same competition as you lot.......Light years my backside.

Its the last I shall say on the matter as I want your dark side to remain in its boring coma like state....Adios

As for China itself the theoretical demand is very high but the big four already work SE Asia very diligently and have developed large fan bases there.

It's a shallow base though. Real Madrid went there a couple of years ago to mass indifference because they did not have superstar names. The Chinese seem to be more interested in individuals rather than teams.

They also need to learn football properly, the grass roots there barely exist. A Chinese crowd at a match does not get excited unless the ball is in the penalty area. Somebody could be haring down the wing with an acre of space ahead of him and it's strangely quiet.

But the players can be quite committed...have a look at the Beijing-Tianjin derby...

To add my views I thought CY chose his words very carefully, he promised enough but not too much, I tend to agree with Paul in that he was careful to include wages in his numbers, echos of good old Doug there.

As for China itself the theoretical demand is very high but the big four already work SE Asia very diligently and have developed large fan bases there. Its not impossible for Blues to develop a big fan base but I think they would have to have a number of Chinese players for that to work but that seems to be the way that CY is taking it.

To be be honest I shall watch developments with interest. Its hard miles to build a consistently successful club that can realistically challenge the top four as Villa have found and it takes big big money as Man City are finding.

The only words of wisdom I would offer is something said on the BBC website a couple of years ago by one of the football academics, 'never buy the second club in any town or city' Shocked

Oh and Park at Man U is Korean not Chinese!

the wages thing is shades of ellis however that is how you run a business it just football fans as a whole dont get there is a club budget for the year not just for transfers so that include the tea lady, laying pitches, telephone calls etc and of course players transfer fees it will be very interesting also to see how the financed is raised for such players.

IMO they should replace the manager as soon as they can spend enough to stay up each year and get a better infrastructure so stadium and training facilitys while building the marketing.

Something solid basically that doesnt rely on Carson Young that way when he goes the club is self sufficentlearner has been doing that....but he started off with a much better platform.

It going to require alot of money expecially that stadium and we dont need comments of they cant fill there ground as they will if they stay up consistantly with a gradual progression

tend to agree this thread sits best on the blues site but what this thread does provide is something that is quite franly lacking from our boards.........................the open and adult diescussion that has not descended into a slanging match, so i am kind of happy it is still here.

Dont you remember when Randy took over from Doug. The dreams, aspirations and targets that they and us set. It's good that the blues now have this and hopefully they can establish themselves (to a certain point) in teh Premier league and we can have some good years of banter.

Hopefully CY will reduce the away ticket price for the next game at the sty too.

Dreams in 2006 are different from 2009 as our dreams were more realisitic before most of the other clubs were brought up!

So spending the figures we have would have got us more players for the money..... Torres 20m anyone?

These days everyone has a billionaire owner and to be different in the rich catagory you need a Man City owner who even Abramovic looks poor next to!

I do think it will be the making of Birmingham as an established Premiership side in the long run (next few years) as there will be some form of sustained investment and he has paid a Premiership price for your club (personally if i were him I would have brought Everton/Leeds/Sheffield Wednesday) so his interests are to keep you in the premiership the next step in our progression is a better manager which he should be able to attract if you stay up or with some promises of propper backing

I hope it works out for the Blues. Whilst I enjoy the banter we have with our neighbours, I believe if they could become consistent premiership performers it would be good for the city.

Randy had it easy compared to what these new owners of Blues will face. For all his faults Deadly ran a good ship, kept his assets up to date and made sure there was little or no debt. At Blues. the infrastructure is desparate, and I cant see a Council, over £2B in debt, building them a new stadium. This will need and take masses of money to correct.

The team has been cobbled together by Big Eck with little money available, and whilst I realise this is heresy to some, I believe he has not done a bad job so far! I hope he gets a chance to show his credentials with some money to spend, again he will find it hard compared with MON, we thought good players might reject us but Blues, well say no more!

Yes go for it Blues, I wish you well, but no too well, remember your place, which is below us Very Happy Very Happy

One of the pleasing aspects already is that Blues have a manager who preaches passing football and with extra millions will be able to bring in players who will improve the side. On the other hand, Villa under Martin O'Myth, are Leicester City for the Millennium. Villa launch it, play for set pieces and have no tactical acumen from the false God.Hoofball rules ok

It was interesting Mr Yu saying today that the noses wont blow the 40m transfer kitty on just 'one or two superstars'. Eck will have to spend that wisely as he may have to replace up to 9 of his starting XI to be a competent PL team, eventually. And I would wish him luck in spending it wisely. It may be difference in him keeping them up and giving him a chance to build. Or them getting someone else in sharpish.

Contrasted to Villa, thanks to RL & MON (and yes it took an impatient forever to get here!) but we only really need to splash out our whole 40m transfer budget on just one or two superstars, ying to the yang or what? MON has done the hardwork building since taking over O'Deary's rubbish squad. Made us better. Hard to beat.

We just need some glazed cherries on top.

Noses need flower, eggs and milk, wooden spoon, mixing utensils or implements. Kitchen.

But I would be more hopeful for the poor noses no matter who Mr Yu eventually turns out to be, who Yu, who knew, oh no. And it can only be a positve step that Ms Brady and the sleasy porn barons have departed WMidlands football scene. Good riddance.

I now hope they stay up, but suffer more than a bit, and we have many ding dongs and epics.
