Normally a blinder this- 4-4 If I remember correctly last seasons corresponding fixture! Sorry to post this and the Sunderland one - but I am looking for places to watch it! Any ideas guys?
Rococo might have it on but dont normally know until later in the week!
Keep me posted lads if any of you know where's showing it!
Oh - my prediction, with their 11 men injury crisis it can only be a 2-1 win to the villa! Goals from Gabi, Milner and Saha! _________________

3-3 mate, after they went 2-1 then 3-1 up if I recall. Then Milner smashed in a thumping free kick and then 'he who we don't talk of anymore' scored a pen to equalise before the Fonz had a glorious chance to win it late on only for Howard to make a superb save.
You're right about their injury crisis and they've played pretty badly this season. That said, it's still going to be a tough, tough game. 1-0 Villa for me, Collins from a corner
The last time I went to Goodison Rooney was still playing in blue and I remember he and Lee Hendrie squaring up to one anoter! There was only ever going to be one winnner and it wasn't the mushroom haired guy who once decked Steve Bruce. It's a shed of a stadium and I'm glad I shall be watching Saturday's game via an internet stream at a mate's house. |

Sorry was thinking of the Spurs game! (so tired today!)
Iwent to the one 2 seasons ago when we equalised from 2-1 down in the dying seconds. They weren't exactly hospitable fans inside or outside the ground! _________________

Just to be pedantic as we all love a bit of pedantry on here ... Actually the corresponding fixture last season was Everton 2 Villa 3 with Lescott's injury time equaliser and running over to the Villa fans before we went straight up the other the end and Ash scored his second and the famous "Look at me tan!" fanzone moment
The 3-3 game was at Villa.
Everton have got lots of injury problems but have still got plenty of people who can cause us problems. I would be surprised if we can win at both Sunderland and Everton, but I think I will wait to see who is fit after the League Cup games before making a prediction.

Yeah I think this will be a tough one after our exertions last night over 120 mins.
0-0 for me, as our defence is on top form at the mo, and if Saha doesn't score right now, no one seems to for them. Again last night we didn't look much like scoring, so I would give the kid Collins maybe 20 mins at the end, either for Gab (who could do with a rest anyway), or in a reversion to 442 (I would prefer us to go in playing 451)
Might stick a fiver on that, and if we win 1-0 or 2-1 I can't complain anyway!. _________________ "You have to stand for something, or you will fall for anything" |

your bang on! I should remember this- we were in marbella in December and watched it out there with the lads! We were getting fully involved in Sambuca shots to celebrate as well as running around with our shirts over our heads swinging them about lol!! _________________

I agree Spooky, although any match against Everton is always difficult. Yes the 120 minutes of last night would one would expect have a bearing but could be offset by such a dramatic victory that often inspires.
Unlike last year we have good cover in important positions. Cuellar could be rested, bring in Young L and if, as reported, Warnock is injured, we may well see the Boumas playing his first match!
Perhaps one of the surprising events last night was the taking off of Petrov, who it appears, according to the radio, was not happy although they thougt he was spent physically. Sidwell will come in to midfieldand I would and bring in Gardner,or to surprise everyone Shorey, who I have always thought is more suited to a midfield role.
With Young and Milner wide mid and Gabby upfront, we have a balanced 4-5-1. Take a guaranteed 1 point to start, always good at Goodison and hope that Young remembers the way to the goal as he did last year.
Subs; include Albrighton,Petrov, Cuellar, Guzan or Friedel (a bit contentious), Bannan (cant resist!), Collins (for Harry,I personally dont think he will make it!) Carew.
An interesting match where perhaps the man management of the opposing managers will be tested to the full. We would like to win,
but I guess the Toffees have to win could suit a 4-5-1 set up, catch them on the break |

Good shout Wembley, I too think they will have to push on for the win due to the way things have been going for them. It will be an interesting problem for them, as Moyes will most certainly know our defence is playing well, and if they are going to throw the kitchen sink at us, they better be prepared to get a serious workrate tracking back!. This won't be easy, as they too had a tough match last night, even if it was half hour shorter in length than ours.
We have recently been all about snapping at heals, and big workrate (shown again last night) so I hope we too can keep that up. I agree that there should be a shake up in MF, if nothing else to keep the legs fresh. 451 requires alot of work from Young and Milner, so I hope they come prepared if we down go down that route! (and I do hope so). _________________ "You have to stand for something, or you will fall for anything" |

Yep, sorry I thiught we were talking about the last time we played them.
If, as has been said, Petrov was spent last night, I think NRC might start ahead of him. But I can't see Bouma coming in ahead of Shorey - who has at least played a few games and got a pre-season under his belt.
How's about this for the side.
Friedel
Shorey
Collins
Dunne (Captain)
Cuellar
Young
NRC
Sidwell
Delph
Milner
Gabby
Subs: Guzan, L.Young, Beye, Petrov, Carew, Heskey |

7 subs now Oman so fill up the bench......
I think the everton game will be a good sign of what this current bunch of players is about. With the efforts last night the true character of the guys will be tested on the weekend against oppostion who can be difficult to beat.
Think the team should be as follows:
Fridel
Young
Collins
Dunne
Warnock/Shorey
Milner
Ash
Reococker
Sidwell
Gardner
Gabbi
With Delphs inexperience still when ever i hvae seen him playing although he is a good player the midfield doesnt look balanced with him at the momnet. this will come though.
2-0 win with Gabbi and Sidwell scoring |

It's too early for predictions because last night's efforts may have taken their toll. Hopefully Collins and Warnock will be fully fit.
If so, I'll go for 1-1 based on our performances of the last couple of games.
I can't see us scoring against a well organised Everton team from open play, so I reckon it'll be down to whether Ash can deliver and Dunne or Collins can pop up and score.
There have been some magical games between Everton & Villa, but the way both have been playing in last couple of weeks leads me to think that this won't be one them. |

Everton appear to be in free fall. They have played 3 games in 6 days and now have a break for 3 days. they're lacking confidence and have a very injured squad.
Villa dont really have any injury woes and although not playing well have looked great in defence and appear to be due a good game. Everton is somewhere Villa have played fairly well the last 2 seasons - thus only dropping 1 point there.... I can only see this as a Villa win.
Remember few years back - Everton were so our bogie team! _________________

I really think we should go 4-5-1 in this match. When we play 4-4-2 the game is too stretched, we struggle to control midfield and the forwards become isolated. 4-5-1 helps us to retain possession more easily and ironically we seem to create more chances with one fewer forward on the pitch. Following our draw last weekend, it would be fantastic to get a win against an under strength Everton team. If all players are fit, I would go:
Friedal
Young (L)
Collins
Dunne
Warnock
NRC
Petrov
Delph
Milner
Agbonlahor
Young (A)
This appears a very balanced team. I think Young (L) offers more options in forward positions than Carlos, which is crucial playing this system. I would like to rest Ashley Young but feel that until Downing is available this is unlikely.
On a side note, it's great to be in the hat for the quarter final of the League Cup. Let's hope for a home draw. |

Good shout Afro Man. I am in agreement with your formation however having watched MON's tactics over the last few years my observation is that he doesnt seem to change the formation unless there is an injury that dictates it or we have a run of poor results. As we currently have neither situation I fully expect MON to pick the same team as the Wolves and Chelski games.
I think this is a weakness in MON's management style and something that might be a problem if he doesnt adapt this season now we have a stronger squad. Just an observation. |

Will be interesting to see who he picks. I think Big Brad hasn't missed a game in 200 Prem matches or something silly, but little brad defo givien him food for thought.
I think cueller at right back is still working as Milner defo puts the effort in and tracks back..... Im sure we will get caught out at some point in this position as he's hardly the most pacey right back in the Prem but offers more in defending set pieces than Young could.
I'd start this side
Friedal
Warnock
Dunne
Collins
Cueller
Young
Sidwell
Reo-joker
Petrov
Milner
Gabi
Subs:
Delph
Donkey
Guzan
Shorey
Young
Carew
Gardner _________________
