Im going to go with a win for us! A push from new starters with Cueller/Milner and Petrov all probably be out making room for perhaps Gardener/Reo Joker and Albrighton....

2-1 to the villa. a Controlled game by us. Goals from Carew and Gabi and COle for them (who else!)

This time last year we were doing fairly well in the league. We weren't going great guns, but had a couple of fixtures against struggling teams to look forward to that would propel us firmly into the top 4.

In the first week of November we went to a struggling Newcastle side and then took on another bunch of strugglers, Middlesboro at Villa Park. I imagine that at the time, most of us on here would have had us down for 6 points.

We ended up losing both.

I just hope history doesn't repeat itself. West Ham and Bolton are obviously winnable games, but previous years suggest that if we don't take our chances, we won't win.

I'll go with a scrappy 1-0 for Villa.

We are just not playing well at the moment. Too many of our better players are out of form. Milner has been our only midfield player to show any kind of consistancy this season and he is rated as being very doubtful for this one. Petrov, Young and Sidwell are all well out of form. The hammers have a decent midfield and I expect them to control this one (unless MON plays three in the middle). I hate to tip the opposition but I have got to for this one. I think it will be 2-0 to the hammers with Villa bouncing back with a win on Saturday.

Looking at the named squad, I can't see one out n out goal scorer for us, so I see it being a dour game, with defences ruling, but Cole to score the only goal. 1-0 to West Sham....... Hope I'm wrong though Confused

Cans - Who did we go onto beat after that?

I don't think any game is as predicatble as you would like. We can only hope for results. West Ham have come back from 2-0 down at the Gooooners and drew in a recent game. They're not playing badly and no doubt will start picking themselves up and pushing up the table soon - I cant see them getting relegated.....

Lee!!!
Stop predicting us to win!!
The last few games you've predicted easy wins over wolves and the toffees! Need i say more!!
At work i am banned from predicting a win, cos the opposite normally happens!
So i am going for a 2-0 defeat, with Sidwell sent off and a brace for carlton cole.
Up the Villa!

PS this is meant as joke!

Think Milner, for his work rate in particular, will be a big miss if he doesn't make it.
I assume MON will stick with 4-4-2...if so hopefully Carew will be up front with Gabby.
It should be a very difficult game tonight with West Ham coming back into form and due a win. Obviously we have to keep Cole under control as I heard he has scored in every home league game since April. Maybe his work rate will even show Carew and Emule what they should be doing. Their defence is still vulnerable so hopefully plenty of good crosses from us.
I think 7 out of the last 10 there have been draws with us winning only once so a draw would seem the most likely. I think it will be another hard fought game and I will go 2-1 West Ham.

Fair point, but it raises the question of whether MON can motivate his team against the lesser clubs this year. We've come unstuck against some poor teams this year (apart from Small Heath). I just hope we take this one seriously and NRC takes control of the middle.

Having seen the team lineup (Beye instead of Luke to replace Cuellar, and Carew & Heskey up front) I can't see us winning this one. I hope we can escape with a point.

Thanks Canz.

btw, I agree with the lineup, whats he thinking?.......I know they will both be rusty, but Beye over Luke???, wtf....maybe he just wants the excuse to put Carlos back in there when the ban is over!.

It's also quite attacking, so Beye better be on his toes!, he'l get no cover from Gab!

ok we aint top of the table, But we aint no where near the bottom either , and weve had a couple of good results against teams with lofty ambitions. So stop with the glass half empty motif , not long ago we had a manger that was taking usdown o'leary if your a villa that was scary times.

manure dont look the team they have been so try and be a bit more in keeping with the stature of our club. we will finish top 8 noprobs and that is not negative, welcome man city , sunderland and spuds

villa1love. I was not being negative, just giving an opinion on what I have witnessed so far this season. We are not playing well whether you like it or not. We have just lost (as predicted) to a team that had only previously won once all season and had some of their better players missing. We have had two good results this season but, especially in the Liverpool match, we were very lucky. I think we are making progress but our league record in 2009 is not that impressive. MON makes too many selection and purchasing errors in my opinion.

Very disappointing result tonight but is anybody really that surprised? Having said all that, Saturday offers us a brilliant opportunity to get a much needed win.
